Forget — for just a moment — about summer’s spandex-clad superheroes and cities being destroyed by robots and monsters. The Fault in Our Stars, out June 6 and adapted from the 2012 best-selling John Green novel, stands to be the must-see love story of the season.
In this week’s Entertainment Weekly, Sara Vilkomerson reports from The Fault in Our Stars set in Pittsburgh and explores how TFIOS — which tells the love story of two teenagers who meet in a cancer support group — became an unlikely YA phenomenon. “I tried to write the funniest, most honest love story I could about these kids who were living with a difficult disease. I never thought it would be popular,” says Green. “I certainly never imagined it would be a movie.”
Luckily, one studio decided to take a chance on the project. Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler remembers how producer Wyck Godfrey convinced her to make the film. “Wyck called me and said, ‘You can’t pass on this. You have to do this,” she says. “I said, ‘Why are you doing this to me?’ And he said, ‘Because. It makes you remember when you were a teenager and you were in love for the first time and you didn’t want to hang up the phone.’”
With a modest budget of $12 million, every piece of the TFIOS puzzle was carefully considered — from hiring director Josh Boone to casting rising stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort in the lead roles of Hazel and Augustus. Green, who was on set for just about every day of shooting, found the experience an unexpected pleasure. “Shailene has become Hazel to me. Ansel has become Gus,” he says. “The feeling I’ve had consistently is this deep weird joy.”
MTV – Hey, “The Fault In Our Stars” fans: Are you gasping to know just whose fault it is and in exactly which stars? Most of you will have to wait until the movie is released on June 6 to find out, but star Shailene Woodley is offering some fans the chance to get in on the action weeks early.
Want to go to a special screening of the movie on May 11 at the Fox lot in Los Angeles? Listen up.
All you have to do is buy a copy — signed or unsigned — of the movie tie-in edition of the book from the All It Takes website. Proceeds from the sales will benefit All It Takes, the charitable organization Woodley founded with her mother, Lori Woodley, in 2010. All It Takes promotes youth leadership and empowerment within the community.
Not only will those who purchase a book — copies signed by author John Green are going for $150, while unsigned copies are up for a mere $75 — get to see the movie early, they’ll also get to meet author Green and Woodley. Start freaking out…now.
This news isn’t the only thing we have to be psyched about today. A brand spankin’ new trailer for “Fault” hit the web today, and the extended clip is 85 percent guaranteed to make you cry 100 percent of the time. It’s OK, we’re not judging you. Tears are only natural.
“The Fault In Our Stars” hits theaters June 6. Ansel Elgort stars alongside Shailene Woodley.
The extended trailer for The Fault in Our Stars surfaced earlier today, and needless to say it has only heightened our excitement for the film. It’s a perfect trailer but June suddenly seems so far away… I just want to watch this already!
I’ve uploaded scans of Shailene’s gorgeous cover feature in the latest issue of Natural Health to the gallery. I’ll also work on adding a full transcript of the interview into the press library, which will be revamped this weekend to coincide with the launch of our new themes. Enjoy!

Great news! Many apologies for the lack of updates on the site recently, I have been swamped under with work and other commitments but hope to have everything back up-to-date within the next few days. You can also expect to see our beautiful new themes launched very soon. Stay tuned!
VARIETY – Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to the Shailene Woodley-starrer “White Bird in a Blizzard” and plans a theatrical release for later this year.
Gregg Araki directed from his own script, based on Laura Kasischke’s novel. The drama also stars Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, Shiloh Fernandez, Gabourey Sidibe, Thomas Jane and Angela Bassett.
The film was produced by Pascal Caucheteux, Sebastien K. Lemercier, Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Pavlina Hatoupis and Gregg Araki. Why Not Productions, Desperate Pictures, Orange Studio and Wild Bunch are the production companies on board.
Woodley stars as a college-bound teenager who is just discovering her sexuality when her mother (Green) disappears — an event that barely registers with Woodley’s character. But as time passes, she begins to come to grips with how deeply the disappearance has affected her life.
“White Bird” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in late January. Variety‘s Peter Debruge gave the film a mixed review, calling it “naughty, campy and wildly uneven.”
The deal was negotiated for Magnolia by Dori Begley and Peter Van Steemburg with CAA and Wild Bunch on behalf of the filmmakers.
